Finally, 14 Contestants Emerge for Hymnodia Reality Show

Hymnodia

FOURTEEN hymntestants (contestants) have been selected to compete for the grand prizes on Hymnodia reality television show, which is set to redefine and nurture talents on rendition of hymns.

The Hymntestants, who will enter the Hymnstitute (the show’s house) on Sunday, February 10, 2019, were revealed through the Hymnodia social media handle: @hymnodiahq on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

They were selected by a credible panel of judges after a painstaking process including a two-day audition conducted for over 200 contestants shortlisted from across the country and post audition evaluations by the Hymnodia faculty. The 14 hymntestants were drawn from a pool of over 1,500 participants that indicated interest and registered to prove their skills.

The panel which conducted the audition included Dupe Ige Kachi, singer, songwriter and vocal coach; Seun Owoaje, pianist, composer and former music lecturer; Benneth Ogbewi, event consultant and Sunday Olawuwo, music director of Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Ikeja, Lagos.

They all agreed that the initiative has pushed out abundant talents. “I have heard voices that do classical and contemporary rendition of hymns, and it would be fun to see how these voices come together to play out in the Hymnstitute,” Kachi said.

“I see potentials in the contestants and l commend the initiator for taking the bull by the horn to nurture talents,” Owoaje said.

The premier reality TV show commenced airing on February 3, on satellite and terrestrial channels. It will reward the ultimate winner with a prize of the Asaph (a specially designed award named after David’s chief musician), N5million and a brand new car.

The grand finale is scheduled for April, this year.

NGO, Flames Initiative Empowers 100 Nigerian Widows At Yuletide

NGO, Flames Initiative Empowers 100 Nigerian Widows At Yuletide

Flames Initiative
Ademoj Event Centre, Isheri, Alimosho LGA, Lagos – In the spirit of Christmas, Flames Initiative, an international NGO, successfully organized CINTA Project, a widow-empowerment program, last week, in Lagos.

The memorable event which was sponsored by Nestle Nigeria, GBF, McPeens, Kingsword International Church, Igando, Eltee Production Company, 54 Artistry, Citimax Pharmacy and others, had about 100 widows in attendance with their children and other guests including sponsors, media professionals and vendors.

In addition to a free medical check-up, the widows went home with free drugs, food items, school bags for their children, goody bags, and other packages that can make their Christmas really merry. The happy widows did not disappoint on the dance floor as they moved and glided to some melodious tunes.

Guest speaker, Ms Bimpe Oke, encouraged them to keep on in spite of the different challenges they face as widows. Emphasizing that they are responsible for their children, she charged them not to pass on that responsibility to anyone and to ensure their safety. “Our children are our responsibility, you can’t hand them over to someone else. Don’t drop your children anywhere because of life challenges...”

During a question and answer session, she tackled sexual molestation, emotional pain, child abuse, financial challenges and other issues bothering the widows and their children. She also encouraged the widows to speak out about their challenges and for the organizers to mediate between the widows and human rights groups.

Elated Miss Tolu Oni, one of the event organizers, could not hide her excitement, “I feel fulfilled and I am happy the event was a success. I am glad to give back to the society especially to widows who may be wondering if the society cares about them. I encourage everyone to give back to the society in their own little way. We shouldn’t leave everything to the government.”

A high point of the event was the prayer session when a man of God showered fervent prayers on the widows. The widows who obviously know they have no one else to turn to but God chorused a thunderous amen to the prayers. An attendee even acknowledged that this was one of the best moments of the event, “They really need those prayers,” he said.

The widows went home full of smiles, thanking Flames Initiative for showing love to them in a practical way. This event would not have been successful without support from sponsors and volunteers. It is also open to your support and sponsorship.

REVEALED: Shocking Reason Why Delta Ladies No Longer Wear Pants, How Used Ladies' Pant Now Cost N350k Per One

REVEALED: Shocking Reason Why Delta Ladies No Longer Wear Pants, How Used Ladies' Pant Now Cost N350k Per One

Pantless Ladies
For some time, there have been reports that some ritualists, also known as ‘Yahoo boys’, have been stealing female underwear, sometimes at gunpoint, particularly around campuses of tertiary institutions in Delta State. Although the veracity of the claims that such stolen undies are used for ritual purposes has not been established, such reports have instilled fear into the hearts of ladies living in such areas, resulting in fear and panic.

And in the ensuing panic, our correspondent observed that many ladies in the affected areas in Delta have been devising ways to safeguard themselves against danger.

It was learnt that the underwear of girls and women, particularly of ages between 14 and 35, are allegedly considered as ‘hot cakes’ for use by the ritualists.

Used pants, according to some students at Asaba campus of the Delta State University, sells for as much as N350,000, with some adding that the price can be higher if it is confirmed to have body fluids.

At the campus, it was learnt that one of the measures being used by female students to protect themselves is to go out without wearing pants.

For instance, a student of the school, who lives outside the school campus and who only identified herself as Esther, said three of her friends had started employing the strategy of going out without wearing pants.

“We hear that the pants those ritualists or ‘Yahoo boys’ steal are being used for money ritual. After they finish performing some rituals on the pants, the owners will start bleeding or vomiting blood. Since the news got to us, three of my friends have stopped wearing pants. I have stopped going out at night, even for something as important as going to the campus to study at night. Although, I heard that these evil people also operate during the day, I believe it is more dangerous at night.

“We heard that last week, on Anwai Road, at around 8pm, two men forcibly collected a young lady’s pants. As I speak to you, we have not seen the lady since then to know the effect it will have on her. Though, unlike my friends who have stopped wearing pants, I still do, but we have been advised to stop hanging our pants on washing lines outside.

A 22-year-old female student of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, who simply identified herself as Sandra, described the alleged theft of female underpants as evil brought for Asaba by ‘Yahoo boys’.

Confirming that some ladies no longer wear pants in some parts of the state, especially in Abraka, Asaba, fear of having them stolen by ritualists, Sandra said she was told that some pants could be sold for as much as N500,000 each.

Sandra, who said she had stopped wearing pants outside, said, “I am telling you the truth; in Delta State now, especially Asaba, there is fear because the way these ‘Yahoo boys’ or ‘Yahoo Plus boys’ are looking for female pants is crazy. Some even collect ladies’ pants at gunpoint.

“I have stopped wearing pants whenever I am going out, and that goes for some of my friends too to prevent ourselves from being victims of these evil people. When they collect someone’s pants, it is the end for that person. It happened to one lady in Umuagwu quarters of Asaba. Her family has taken her to church for healing because she has been behaving abnormally. I have also stopped going out with people I don’t know their background, especially those with flashy cars.”

Another student, who insisted that the problem was really serious but spoke on condition of anonymity, said, she knew a lady who fell ill after losing her pants.

“I know one Jenifer who fell into the hands of these evil boys in Asaba. On Friday, December 14, 2018, she fell very ill. The management of a hotel in Umugwu, where she had gone to meet someone, quickly reported the case to the police and they were advised to take her to a traditional healing home.

“When contacted on the telephone, the man identified as the culprit, said the lady was still alive, but since then, his line had not been reachable,” she said.

Our correspondent met a female hairdresser, who claimed that the victim was her customer and that she had visited her at the place where she was being treated. She said the lady was looking very ill and that it didn’t look like she would survive. But as she was talking to Saturday PUNCH, another lady joined the conversation, saying the lady in question had died.

Saturday PUNCH also learnt that in Abraka, Ughelli, Ozoro and Warri, some ladies have resulted to sprinkling their pants with oil that had allegedly been blessed by preachers.

According to Efe, a young lady in her late 20s, she no longer hangs her underwear on the washing line outside her flat or leaves the diapers used by her baby lying around.

“Some women sprinkle their pants with ‘anointed oil’. Some of us have stopped hanging our pants on washing lines outside. If you come to my compound, you won’t see any underwear hanging outside like it used to be and it is because we are afraid of ritualists.

“Since we heard the news, we have been hanging our pants in our bathrooms; whether they get dry or not is not a big issue. We sometimes iron our underwear to get them dry. We are also mindful of what our visitors could do so we take precautions. We understand that these ‘boys’ have agents who sneak into houses to steal pants and brassieres.

“Although, I haven’t seen anyone who is a victim of this problem, I have heard about some cases. Even my female neighbours told me that they had stopped wearing pants since there were reports about some guys stealing underwear at gunpoint. It’s better not to wear pants than to die prematurely,” she said.

When asked if not wearing pants could increase the incidence of rape, Efe said “yes,” adding that “we don’t have any other option and even men will not know that a lady is not wearing pants except they are told or they are really close to the woman.”

In Ogwushi-Uku Polytechnic in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state, it was learnt that female students had adopted a strategy of going to their boyfriends’ places without their undies.

This was disclosed by a student in National Diploma Two, who identified herself as Cynthia.

“Most ladies have stopped leaving their pants in their boyfriend’s house or wearing pants there. In my own case, I trust my man and believe he will not do anything to hurt me. He is from a good background and not a greedy person who would want to make quick money through rituals.  But I know that many ladies on this campus now visit their boyfriends without putting on underwear. For instance, my friend, Chida, has stopped wearing pants,” Cynthia said.

When asked if some were avoiding having boyfriends as a move to be more cautious, Cynthia said, “We are just trying our luck to see if the friendship we develop now will lead to marriage. Before now, whenever you visited your boyfriend and had to sleep over, you would take some spare underwear along, but that no longer happens.

“Also, we avoid lonely routes, during the day and at night because of the sad reports that get to us. We heard that some people now go about in flashy cars, looking for ladies on lonely roads whom they would point their gun at and ask them to bring their pants or be shot dead.

“Many ladies have stopped going out after 6:30 pm; we would rather stay in our hostels.”

Our correspondent also ran into five young ladies discussing how ritualists had also allegedly reviewed their strategy by forcing ladies to wear new pants and then taking them back.

“We don’t know what to do again; most of us have stopped wearing pants but these ‘Yahoo tboys’ have also adopted another method. They go about with new pants and when they meet ladies that do not have pants on, they will give them pants to wear and collect them back, at gunpoint. Women should also look for what they will use men’s boxers to do. May God protect women in these evil days,” one of the ladies said.

Meanwhile, a man was reportedly apprehended recently while allegedly attempting to steal some female underwear. The suspect was reportedly caught by local vigilantes in Agbarha-Ughelli area of the state after he allegedly stole a bra and was looking for pants to steal.

When he was quizzed by security operatives, the suspect allegedly confessed that a man whom he had asked to show him how to make money told him to go and get female pants and bras before he would assist him.

He allegedly said he was to meet with the unknown man at a popular hotel in Ughelli area after getting the underwear.

Also, on Sunday, December 2, 2018, five ladies were said to have encountered some ritualists at Oha Junction, close to Osubi along Abraka Road, who ordered them at gunpoint to bring their pants.

Saturday PUNCH also learnt that some churches had started advocacy to advise their female members to be mindful of where they keep their pants.

A female Sunday school teacher, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We have seen it as our responsibility to teach our ladies, especially teenagers, ways to avoid being victims of this ugly practice that we experience in Delta State.

“As a teacher in my church, I have told female members of my church to be suspicious of their friends and even brothers. They should not leave their pants lying around anywhere. If possible, they should hide them in their bags and they should not collect pants as gifts from friends. We used to hear ‘your money or your life’ but today, it has become a case of ‘your pants or your life.”

She further advised young ladies to be wary of hanging their pants on washing lines outside and to be smart enough to resist being deceived by men in flashy cars, saying “all that glitters is not gold.”

Meanwhile, Mr Charles Aniagwu, the Chief Press Secretary to Okowa, said the governor had ordered a crackdown on all ‘Yahoo boys’, ritualists and all those involved in the unexplainable and sudden wealth acquired by some people in the state.

He expressed concern over the increasing and disturbing activities of suspected ritual killers and criminally minded individuals, whom he said were becoming more conspicuous because of their flamboyant lifestyles.

“The governor has ordered the police commissioner to go after these ‘Yahoo boys’ that are causing fear, unrest and panic in the state,” he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Delta  State Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the development, said the case of a young woman – Ezino – who had a ‘strange’ ailment had brought the attention of the police command to the activities of ritualists in the state.

He said that the young woman reported to the Police A Division station and complained that maggots were coming out of her body after and that she was referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, to ascertain the cause.

“From the FMC, the lady was taken to a traditional healing home by her family, but we have not heard from her since then,” he said.

On whether the suspect was arrested, Aniamaka said, “What offence shall we arrest him for? The boyfriend said he only slept with her and that he did not rape her. For maggots to be coming out of her private parts is not known to the law.”

Aniamaka said no arrest connected to the alleged stealing of female underwear had been made so far, but he urged members of the public to always give timely information to the police to help prevent.

He urged ladies to be security conscious at all times, assuring that the command was ready to decisively deal with crime in the state.

Mrs Benedicta Osakunih-Izuegbu, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Girl Child Development, had said that the current wave of criminalities, frauds and ritual-related crimes, should be fought through advocacy.

“We have to fight this crime in three ways; one is through advocacy to enable the perpetrators, particularly the youth to change their mindset. Again, parents and guardians must ask questions and query all wealth got illegally by their children and wards. The traditional institution and government should also come up with policies and programmes to tackle the crime.” she had said.

The fear of ritualists is currently rife in the state with some women appealing to government at all levels to rise to the challenge and punish anyone found to be involved in crime.

Why I Must Test My Man's Sexual Strength Before Marriage - Queeneth Agbor

Queeneth Agbor

A Nollywood actress, Queeneth Agbor has said she is not against sex before marriage, an act many frowns at, especially some religion.

The actress aired her opinion in a recent interview held with Punch Newspaper Scoop.

Her words on Sex before marriage, love life, and others

On the importance of sex in a relationship, Agbor said, “To some people, sex is associated with stability because it increases the bond and maintains a level of stability. As for me, I believe that sex is overrated in a relationship though I stand for sex before marriage with a good reason. I need to test my ‘goods’ so I don’t end up with something inadequate. Cheating is a no-no for me. However, in a relationship, getting to know your partner doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with sex. I prefer to bond mentally and intellectually. I know my lover for who he truly is. Sex gone bad can actually end a relationship before you even get to know the real person.”

Speaking on the biggest gift she has ever received from a lover, Queeneth said, “My boyfriend asked me to come outside my house to carry some things he bought for me, only for me to see a car.”

Agbor also said contrary to what some people might think about her, she is actually very spiritual. “One with God is in the majority; for without Him, I am nothing. As long as I breathe, I will continue to serve God. I am an ambassador of Christ with dignity, mentality that differentiates me from others,” the actress added.

BREAKING: NYSC EXPELS Davido

BREAKING: NYSC EXPELS Davido

Davido

A Nigerian music star,  David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has been "dekitted" and expelled by the National Youth Service Corps for violating camp rules during the mandatory three-week orientation camp, News Proof has learned reliably.

A report according to Punch Newspaper suggests that Davido was expelled for “absconding” from the camp during the orientation camp, the Corps had to “dekit” the artiste, which brought to an end his participation in the 2018 Batch ‘B’ Stream II in Lagos State, where he had been posted.

A source from the NYSC, according to Punch said, “The NYSC was constrained to “dekit” Davido for violating the rules guiding conduct and activities in the camp. As a matter of fact, he absconded because he was away from the camp without permission. That prompted the Corps to issue him a query which was sent from Abuja. So, he is no longer a serving corps member.”

The artiste, our correspondent gathered, violated many of the scheme’s regulations.

Other NYSC bylaws violated by Davido include bringing vehicles into the orientation camp; disclosing official information; engaging in private practice; taking part in partisan politics and reporting late for duty.

However, it was also gathered that he may be remobilised for the scheme.

While replying to a post on Instagram during the week, the artiste had said that his NYSC programme had been terminated. He later deleted the comment from the post made by a friend.

ONLY God knows the trauma the owner of a university certificate found with a suya (roasted beef) vendor in Lagos might have gone through.

The certificate issued by Lagos State University, LASU to one Abisoye Azeez Oluwaseun, a 2008 graduate of Chemical and Polymer Engineering, suspected to have been lost was found recently with a Suya vendor at Iraye-Oke Community, Epe Local Government, Lagos State.

Reports suggest that a good Samaritan, Kufo Akorede Olawale, a native of the community found the Certificate when the Suya Man was about to use it to wrap meat for his customer.

Touched by what the owner might have gone through since the loss of the Certificate, Kufo retrieved it from the Mallam (Suya Vendor), snapped and shared it on various Whatsapp groups and other social media platforms to possibly inform the owner or anyone who knows him about the discovery.

Kufo Akorede Olawale can be reached on 09072949972 or 09073342700.

End Time: Popular Leki Pastor In Own Leaked Video Scandal Doing It Hard With Secret Lover ...Watch Video Here

Apostle Chris OmatsolaThe Presiding Pastor of Zionwealth of Life Assembly in the Lekki area of Lagos State, Apostle Chris Omatsola, and his former lover, Tamaratokoni Okpe, have clashed over a sex video that was leaked on the Internet.

While Okpe, who hails from Delta State, accused Omatsola of releasing the video to force her into marriage with him, the cleric told PUNCH Metro that the video was leaked to blackmail him.

Our correspondent gathered that the two estranged lovers dated for about seven months in 2018, during which they had sexual intercourse, which was filmed.

However, shortly after things fell apart between them, the lurid video emerged on the Internet.

Okpe, in her account of the incident, said the pastor had threatened to leak the video after she quit the relationship.

She said, “I met Apostle Chris Kevwe Omatsola, the founder and pastor of Zionwealth of Life Assembly (Zola) in Lekki, Lagos, and we started dating in February 2018. It quickly escalated to a sexual relationship and when we had sex the first time, he told me that we should make it right by getting married. We continued our romance and one of the things we did together was recording videos and taking pictures of our intimacy.

“I informed my mum about a guy coming for my hand in marriage and she said she was going to pray about it. Everything was rosy until he became violent and constantly beat me up till I bled. He came begging after each episode and I forgave him.”

She said by July, she had become indifferent about the relationship.

Okpe alleged that the cleric’s temperament and constant assault of her also discouraged her.

“In August, I called off the relationship and I was surprised that he accepted it in good faith initially, given his penchant for violence.

“Sometime in August, he asked that we meet to talk on platonic grounds. During the meeting, he became hostile when he realised that I was no longer interested in him. He also refused to drop me off at home. He beat me up, seized my phone, forced me to unlock it and retrieved contacts from it just to track who I was seeing.

“That was the final straw for me; so I never saw him again till September when he showed up at my place, crying and begging. I refused to fall for his tricks and there was no further communication from both sides till sometime early October when he apologised again.

“On October 13, he contacted me with an anonymous number via WhatsApp with pictures, videos and threat messages, saying if I did not come back to him, he was going to release everything,” she added.

She noted that she was surprised when at 7pm  that day, people called her attention to the nude video and pictures circulating on the Internet.

The Computer Science graduate said the case was reported to the police and Omatsola was arrested the following day.

“He said now that my pictures and videos were out there, no man would want to look my way again; that it was best we got married.

“After the arrest, in the presence of his dad, he confessed to releasing the pictures and video. He apologised to me, my family, his family and the public. This was recorded on October 19, 2018, and I am in possession of the video. He even accepted to pay damages,” she said.

Okpe, who noted that she regretted the relationship, said she had faced ridicule from friends and family members.

“I was wrong to have been involved in premarital sex with a pastor. I was wrong to have allowed him persuade me to record our intimate moments. I have been fielding questions from my colleagues. I hope that this will pass soon,” she added.

When our correspondent contacted the cleric, he said his former lover was out to fleece him, adding that he could not have posted the sex video since he had his reputation to protect.

He added that a second video of him confessing to posting the sex video was done under duress.

He said, “I never did anything of that nature and she does not have anything to prove it (assault). How do you, a popular pastor with a church in Lekki Phase One, leak your own sex video with your face on it? How does that work?

“That video (confessional video) was done under duress because I was picked up by the same lady and she demanded N200m (from me) for leaking the video, which I did not leak. She has it on her phone and I have it on my phone. So, she picked me up. My dad and the lawyer agreed that I should do a (confessional) video and it was under duress.

“The police were there, the Investigating Police Officer was there; I am supposed to pay that girl N1m before the end of this month.

“This (sex) video came from an unknown telephone number. I started getting calls on Sunday morning while I was in church and somebody said my sex video was all over the Internet. I called the blog that posted it to take it down.

“The next day, the police came to arrest me for it. I went to the station and I was detained; my lawyer came to take my bail. I was taken to the police headquarters where I was told that part of the conditions for bail was for me to make that (confessional) video. I needed to do it to come out to defend myself. You can’t defend yourself in a cell.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said investigation was ongoing.

He noted that the police were not aware of the financial settlement claimed by Omatsola.

He said, “A case was reported against the pastor who posted a sex video of himself and his girlfriend online. Investigation commenced at the Ajah Police Station and the pastor made confessional statement that he posted the video. He said he was madly in love and that was why he misbehaved.

“However, because we see it is a case debasing womanhood and betrayal of trust, it was moved to the Gender Section for thorough investigation.

“At the end of the day, the man was granted administrative bail, while investigation continued.

“Take anything coming from that man with a pinch of salt because we have established that he is a liar and an imposter. We have established that he has committed a heinous crime against a woman that once loved him. If he could commit the offence against the woman, lying against the police is a piece of cake for him. The confessional video he claimed that he was forced to make was done in the comfort of his car.”

THE UNTOLD: How Ooni Of Ife Fell In Love With His Virgin Wife

THE UNTOLD: How Ooni Of Ife Fell In Love With His Virgin Wife

Shilekunola Morenike Naomi
The Ooni of Ife reportedly fell in love with his new bride at first sight and the romance was aggravated by the fact that she is a virgin.

Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and Prophetess Shilekunola Morenike Naomi,

The residence of Ijako Estate, Akure of the Oluwaseyi bubbled penultimate Thursday, 18th of October, as the royal Entourage of his Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi stormed the residence of Evangelist, Prophetess Shilekunola Morenike Naomi, to seek her hand in marriage.

The royal wedding, which was kept away from the public and media glare paraded those who matter to Kabiyesi and his new found love, Naomi.

Let us gist you about Prophetess Naomi. She is the 25 years old founder of a popular Akure church, En-Heralds, at Sunview Hotel Alagbaka, Akure. It is a big church that boasts of more than 1,000-strong congregation. She started the church 7 years ago, while she started her public Evegelism 8 years ago.

She is a very popular Evangelist in Akure and her church is known as the prayer warriors’ church. Very gentle and highly reserved Prophetess Naomi runs the church with her 50 years old mother, Prophetess Oluyemi, who is an Indigene of Ikenne-Remo. Her father is from Akure, while her father’s marriage to his wife has lasted over 30 years. Their marriage is also blessed with 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls, while Oloori Naomi is the 3rd child.

Prophetess Naomi is known for a very famous crusade and praise programme entitled: Hosanna Night every December to mark the anniversary of the church. Many Akure Christians look forward to the programmes not just because of how she ministers, but because it is always star-studded with A-list Nigerian Gospel artistes performing. Last October, Prophetess Naomi brought Tungba Gospel Musician, Yinka Aiyefele, Yetunde Are, Kenny Kore, and Biyi Samuel to perform at the crusade tag: “Hark the Herald Angels” at The Dome, Akure, Ondo State.

She is a graduate of Akungba Akoko University. The very eloquent and highly respectful Young Oloori doesn’t keep friends. Her crowd is small and her mum is her best friend. She is always in the company of her Mother, whom she addresses as “Wooli Agba” or Wura Mi”. They are always sighted at Malls together in Akure. Our source said the Prophetess hardly went out alone and she loves wearing flowing gown too.

Do you know how kabiyesi met his Oloori? City People’s investigation reveals that Kabiyesi met his beautiful Oloori through her mother many years ago.

It was further revealed that it was an extended relationship with all siblings of Oloori Naomi Ogunwusi. Even the Prophetess was at the palace in Ile-Ife 3 months ago to pray for Kabiyesi and that was when Kabiyesi fell in love with her calmness and cool disposition.

It was further explained that Kabiyesi didn’t only fall in love at first sight; he was impressed and induced when he knew that Prophetess Naomi was a virgin at the time.

This was why kabiyesi asked her out and promised her marriage without further ado. City People’s investigation reveals that it took Oloori and Kabiyesi 3-and-half month to pick a date for the marriage and preparations kicked off immediately.

The first thing Oonirisa did was to keep the date away from many as preparations went on among top family members. All the engagement stuffs were also sourced by Kabiyesi’s siblings who were also warned not to discuss it with outsiders.

As early as noon on that Thursday all was set for the royal journey to the residence of the Oluyemi in Akure. Of course, Kabiyesi didn’t go with them as tradition doesn’t permit him. He has to be at home awaiting his bride. He can also not prostrate for anyone and tradition demands he prostrates for his in-laws.

Who were those on the Royal Journey to Akure you may ask? They include Kabiyesi’s father, Prince Aderopo Ogunwusi and his wife, Mrs Margret Ogunwusi, Sooko Ekun, Prince Bimbo, who is Kabiyesi’s elder brother.

His elder brother, Prince Tunji Ogunwusi, and his wife Ibilola Ogunwusi, who flew in from London. Also on the entourage were: Prince Jide Fadairo and his wife, Princess Folasade Ogunwusi, Princess Adesola, Princess Folusho and her husband Kolawole, and Princess Adebimpe and her husband, Prince Mobolaji Jimoh.

The Princesses were all clad in luxury white lace matched with Royal blue headgear. Their traditional Iyun beads were from Tjcollections, while the Ogunwusi Princes and their brothers-in-law spotted white flowing Agbada.

Also in attendance was Obalufe, the Emeses, Osoro, and Ooni of Ife inner caucus Chiefs who all together were 40 in number. All drove to Akure in style in 15 vehicles, which were mainly Benz series. They were led by escort as their hosts welcomed them at 5.31pm.

The Oluwaseyis, who were fully set awaiting their new in-laws quickly commenced the event at a few minutes to 6pm with opening prayer by the bride’s family. Princess Adebimpe Ogunwusi Jimoh, who is the immediate younger sister of Oonirisa, introduced the Ogunwusi’s family to the Oluwaseyis, while the bride’s family also introduced their family members.

The angelic bride walking tall like a Queen that she is came in looking regal in an embellished fully-stoned aso-oke with a light make-up from Akure make-up Pro. Oluyemi Oluposi of dashingbride makeover while her royal Iyun hung beautifully on her neck as she welcomed her new family.

The Ogunwusis couldn’t take their eyes off their beautiful bride as the bride’s family admired the Luxury Lois-Volton set of luggage which was filled with luxury attired for the new Queen. Because the new Queen doesn’t wear earrings, Kabiyesi also sourced for best collection of wristwatches for her. The big yam tubers were 89 pieces, Palm oil, rice, atare, honey, and others items were also put on display as Yoruba culture and tradition dictates

The Oluwaseyis didn’t keep them waiting for long as Prophetess Naomi was handed over to Oonirisa’s elder brother, the Sooko Ekun of Ile-Ife, Prince Bimbo Ogunwusi, who then handed her over to the Ogunwusi sisters.

Few minutes past 10pm, the Ooni entourage drove into Ile-Ife, where Oloori Ogunwusi was received at the entrance by Oonirisa’s Chiefs. Prayers were led by one of the Oonirisa’s Chiefs called ‘Loowa’ (Next to kabiyesi among Chiefs) while Obalufe also prayed for the new bride before she was presented to Ekerin Iyalode, who is a top member of Oonirisa Ruling house “Geesi ruling house. That was after a white Ram was killed, while the Oloori did the needful according to tradition of Ife. The Ekerin Iyalode poured water on her legss as the calabash was broken. Then the breaking of kolanut followed.

She was later ushered into the palace where Oonirisa had already “Gunwa” on his throne. Kabiyesi, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi received her with open arms and prayed for her. He exchanged wedding bands with her and told her to sit at the right side.

The emeses who are the closest chiefs to Kabiyesi then welcomed her officially with all the Oloori of the source praises, while she was then told to move to the left side of Kabiyesi, which makes her the new Oonirisa Oloori.

Benue Community, Church Celebrate Reps Member, Mato At 50th Birthday

Benue Community, Church Celebrate Reps Member, Mato At 50th Birthday

Dorothy Mato
Rt. Hon. Mrs. Dorothy Mato, the member of the House of Representatives for Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of Benue State celebrated her 50th birthday yesterday and a Thanksgiving service was hosted by Sir Sebastian Apaa Mata and the entire Mbawuar community at Immaculate Conception Rectory Kiishi, Mbawuar, Vandeikya Local Government Council of Benue State.

In his sermon, Rev. Father Reuben Awaji says when people are celebrating their birthday, they should also be thinking of their death day too and by doing so should always be at peace with God and humanity.

He said that those who believe in God should always be in the light of God and should not always expect that life will be rosy.

The sermon was brought to an end by saying that challenges help us to do better and achieve greater heights and we should never allow them discourage us from making the desired impact.

Rev. Awaji blessed Hon Mato on her 50th birthday celebration and prayed God to give her long life and prosperity which was followed by cutting of cake by Mrs. Mato.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee of the occasion, Hon. Tarvershima Ater commended Rep Mato for the significant impact she has made on Mbawuar community.

According to him, as far back in 2003, Mbawuar community was in pain due to communal crisis between Mbangur and Mbawuar, Hon. Mato was the first person to visit the community, and donated 10 bags of genuine-corn, clothes and other essential commodities for the welfare of the displaced persons.

"When there was sorrow in Mbawuar due to the demise of Mrs. Uja Kyunde living many siblings behind, this our mother, wife, sister and a friend of Mbawuar kindred took a bold step by taking two of the siblings from the husband, fed them, clothed them and sponsored them up to "A" Level now.

"Today, more than twenty children from Mbawuar are benefiting from the scholarship Rep Mato gave to Mbawuar sons and daughters. Some of them have obtained their HND, Degrees and school certificates. Mr. Dem Nyikpam Mbashuba HND, Mrs John Agbo Ndere HND,  Miss Unom Yange, Degree in view,  Mr. Atorough Yiye, now working with Road Safety Commission Abuja and host of others.

"The greatest among these philanthropic services is the establishment of School of Health Technology.

"Even being in the minority party during her days in Benue State House of Assembly, she remembered the people of Mbawuar by giving two slots of Sure-P to Mbawuar graduates.

"She recently donated N150,000 to Immaculate conception Rectory Kiishi, Mbawuar to help fix some things in the Rev Father's residence among others," said Hon Ater.

In her speech, Rep. Mato appreciated Sir Sebastian Apaa Mata, the entire Mbawuar community and the Rectory for organizing the event to celebrate her 50th birthday. She appealed to them to continue to give her their unswerving support so that she will be re-elected in 2019 election.

She donated N300,000 to the Church to help complete fixing the residence for the Rev father and was supported by other donations from some of the guests.

Why Ayefele's Music House Was Actually Demolished - Oyo Govt.

Why Ayefele's Music House Was Actually Demolished - Oyo Govt.

Yinka Ayefele’s Fresh FM
The Oyo State government yesterday insisted that it followed due process in the partial demolition of Music House, the building housing popular musician Yinka Ayefele’s Fresh FM in Ibadan, the state capital.

The government said no court order restrained it from carrying out its statutory role in public interest.

It said the Music House building contravened the planning laws of the state, adding that the radio station’s management was duly informed about this through several correspondences.

The government said its action to demolish the building was neither politically motivated, nor was it an act of vendetta against the radio station, as it continued transmission, despite the partial demolition.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Physical Planning and Development Control, Waheed Gbadamosi, told reporters yesterday the event that led to the partial demolition.

Gbadamosi, who was accompanied by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Seun Abimbola; the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Toye Arulogun and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Bolaji Tunji, recalled that during the joint inspection visit to the radio station, government and Music House officials discovered that the building measured 29.7m by 21.6m on ground as against the 11.925m by 10.20m in the survey plan/building plan submitted by Music House.

The governor’s aide said this meant a gross overshooting of the allocated size approved with serious legitimacy implications.

Chronicling the events leading to the partial demolition, Gbadamosi said: “on May 19, 2017, letters demanding for planning approval were sent to various institutions, including University College Hospital, Kola Daisi University, University of Ibadan and other institutions and organisations. On June 14, 2017, request for approval was sent to Music House and 22 other radio stations in Oyo State.

“On August 18, 2017, a reminder letter was sent to Music House and the letter was received by Adebisi Akinkunmi. On August 25, 2017, we went a step further to send a letter to the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), titled: Operation of Radio Stations without Physical Planning permit/Approval in Oyo State. Few months later, precisely on November 27, 2017, another letter was sent to NBC complaining about Physical Planning Law and Regulations by the radio station owners, developers and operators.

“We got a response from NBC on December 4, 2017, and NBC said the issue was outside its mandate. This is to show that the action of the state government is not to witch-hunt anyone, as we even reported the radio stations to NBC. We also wrote to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on some banks contravening the Oyo State Physical Planning and Development Control laws, sections 30, 31 and 32 of the Oyo State Physical Planning and Urban Development Law of 2012.

“Music House submitted a building plan on June 14, 2018 which necessitated the joint inspection visit we carried out on June 25, 2018. It was discovered that it was meant to be an office complex and not a radio station among some other infractions including a building size measured 29.7 metres by 21.6 metres on ground as against the 11.925metres by 10.20metres in the survey plan/building plan submitted by Music House.”

He said the building plan from Music House deviated from the approved plan, which made the approval null and void.

According to him, deceitful information was given to the approving authority and a deviation from the approval granted in construction and use.

Also, the state government yesterday chronicled the events that led to the demolition of Music House, the building housing Fresh FM, a private radio station belong to popular musician, Yinka Ayefele.

A statement in Ibadan, the state capital, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Physical Planning and Development Control, Waheed Gbadamosi, gave a list of the events that culminated in last weekend’s action.

It reads:
