A group identified as Isodotun Ekiti Initiative has called for the immediate probe into the gruesome killing of Comrade Olubunmi Ojo, a cieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ekiti.

Ojo, a former Personal Assistant to ex-governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, and a commissioner in the Federal Character Commission representing Ekiti State was shot dead by unknown assailants at a football viewing centre around Ajitadidun area in Ado Ekiti on Friday night.

The deceased had gone to watch an English Premier League match between Manchester United and Leicester on Friday night with some of his friends.

Shortly after settling down to watch the match, eyewitnesses told our correspondent that six gun-wielding men invaded the centre and shot him in the head and stomach at close range.

The group in a Statement sent to News Proof condemned the killing. It, however, called on Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose, the Police and other law enforcement agencies to ensure lives and properties in the State are safe.

The Statement reads in part:

"We wish to condemn in its entirety the gruesome murder of Comrade Olubunmi Ojo who served as a commissioner in the Federal Character Commission representing Ekiti State. The sad incident is a reflection of insecurity of lives and property in our land and nation as a whole."

"Governor Ayo Fayose as Chief Security Officer of the state must not relent in ensuring that lives and properties are secured. We also demand that this gruesome act should not be swept under the carpet like other similar killings in the past. It is not justice to the family of the deceased alone but justice to our society."

"Our heartfelt sympathy and condolence to the family of the deceased,"
