Knowing fully well that whosoever becomes the presidential flag bearer of PDP automatically become the next president of Nigeria, this phenomenon has to lead some Northern aspirants to press for a soft landing as a pre-requisite for decamping to PDP.

Governors forum of PDP is divided as per preferred choice due to this engagement.

Meanwhile, a governor has decided to stay on the fence. National acceptance, sentiments, political influence, Intelligence quotient and corruption charges are some of the criteria being used by the governors and leaders of the party.

Moreover, “Atiku Abubakar seems to be gaining more momentum due to national acceptance over others. Many of the aspirants have issues of sentiment and religious bigotry, same criteria the Northern youth forum used to disqualify some aspirants.

On the other hand, some of the aspirants are below seventy (70) years but Atiku Abubakar will be seventy-one (71) years come 2019”.

Nevertheless, Atiku Abubakar is a leader with "youthful energy, full of ideology and recognition with managers of international entities that are relevant in world economy".

“Atiku Abubakar is also from a region that has not produced a president. His recent call for Restructuring has gained him more popularity and a name in conjunction with his selfless services, youth empowerment and employment, high intelligence quotient, empathy towards fellow citizens, digital brain for investment and industrialized advisory services to the nation Nigeria. Many are also calling for his candidacy due to his political influence, economic endowment, and personal relationship with people in the six (6) geopolitical zones.

Some aspirants however have voices when it comes to Northern politics but their politics are limited within the region. Why some are close allies with former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Online polls and social media campaign overtime has been reflecting that Atiku Abubakar has great margin over others on several parameters.
